Sunak Takes Office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
The new leader of the ruling Conservative Party of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has officially assumed the office of Prime Minister after receiving a mandate from King Charles III to form a government.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace, with footage released by the monarch's press service.
Now, the 42-year-old Sunak will head to Downing Street, where he is expected to deliver a speech to the nation. He has become the first Prime Minister approved by King Charles III, who ascended to the throne on September 8 following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
