Iran Holds Back Baku, But Tomorrow Aliyev May Propose Something Different to Tehran, Changing the Situation: Tevan Poghosyan

We must understand that the only force restraining Azerbaijan is the Armenian army; nothing will hold them back until we confront them head-on. This was stated by Tevan Poghosyan, the head of the International Center for Human Development, during a broadcast on 24TV, as reported by 24news.am.

He noted that the opening of a consulate by Iran aligns with its interests and can serve as an element of restraint against Azerbaijan and Turkey. So far, Iran has managed to hold Azerbaijan back regarding the acquisition of the Syunik corridor, but how long this will last is uncertain, and tomorrow Azerbaijan may make a different proposal to Iran, leading to a changed situation.

Addressing the announcements about concluding a 'peace treaty' by the end of the year, Poghosyan stated that discussions regarding a 'peace treaty' can only take place after a change of power in Azerbaijan, as Aliyev does not desire peace.
“Aliyev is not the kind of person who would sign a 'Peace Agreement'; he will not respect any document and will breach it the very next day. He has described his ambitions clearly, so what else should I say to make Armenians believe? We want to find something in the sky and believe it. If we want peace, we must prepare for war,” he added.
