Ukraine Proposes Sanctions Against Renowned Singer Who Died Years Ago

The operatic singer Elena Obraztsova, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 75, has been listed among the sanctions proposed by the President of Ukraine's office. This was reported by Mk.ru.

The suggestion to include Obraztsova in the sanctions list was made by an international expert group dealing with sanctions, led by Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office, and former U.S. ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul. It is reported that the Yermak-McFaul group has requested Western countries to impose restrictions on well-known Russians.

Among the names mentioned, as noted by Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, are rapper Timati, singers Nikolai Baskov, Sergey Lazarev, Yulia Chicherina, Klava Кока, and musicians Igor Butman and Valery Kipelov, totaling 166 Russian stars.

People's artist Elena Obraztsova died of heart failure long before the start of the special operation in Ukraine, on January 12, 2015.
