Sunak Confirms Candidacy for Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Former UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak has confirmed his candidacy for the position of Prime Minister.

"The United Kingdom is a wonderful country, but we are facing a deep economic crisis. That is why I will be the leader of the Conservative Party and your next Prime Minister," he wrote on Twitter.

Even before his announcement on Sunday, Sunak had received more support from Conservative lawmakers than his rivals, former Defense Minister Penny Mordaunt and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"There will be honesty, professionalism, and accountability at every level of the government I will lead, and I will work day by day to see the work through to completion," he noted, asking for the opportunity to address the country's challenges.
