Italy's First Female Prime Minister Announces Cabinet Formation
Italy's first female Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, has today accepted the mandate to form a government. The new cabinet's oath of office will take place on October 22.
As reported by Kp.ru, she has announced the composition of her cabinet. It is noted that most ministerial portfolios are allocated to representatives of her party, the 'Brothers of Italy'. However, some positions in the government have also gone to representatives of the 'League' and 'Forward, Italy' parties, which, alongside the 'Brothers', won the elections held on September 25 as part of a right-wing coalition.
Now, the positions of deputy prime ministers have been assigned to Matteo Salvini, leader of the 'League', and Antonio Tajani, vice president of 'Forward, Italy' and former president of the European Parliament. The former has become the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, while the latter has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will be headed by a technical specialist, Matteo Piantedosi, Prefect of Rome, while Giancarlo Giorgetti has been appointed to lead the Ministry of Economy.
