90 Percent of Our Positions in Jermuk Are Under Azerbaijani Control: Serob Gasparyan

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "We have received information from Jermuk that the enemy is not only not withdrawing its forces but is also strengthening its positions every day. The commander of the 'Black Panther' detachment, Serob Gasparyan, stated in an interview: 'Jermuk is now under threat—at any moment, they could level the city to the ground with mortars. Just 4 kilometers away, the Turks are positioned above an area called 'Gomer' in Jermuk, and they are doing extensive construction work, building roads, and you can see what shape it is taking.' So, how far have they advanced, and what kind of work are they carrying out?"

"Along the entire line, except for one point where our detachment was stationed, the enemy has not advanced even a centimeter. In all other areas, they have invaded up to eight kilometers into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. All strategic heights in the direction of Jermuk are under Azerbaijani control; 90 percent of our former positions, which our soldiers maintained, are now occupied by Azerbaijanis. We have lost approximately 15 positions, with one position being spaced one, two, three, or sometimes more kilometers apart from others,' he emphasized."

What kind of work are the Azerbaijanis doing? 'In any war, when they capture territory, the first thing they do is build roads, and they do this very quickly. The goal is to allow for the rapid movement of military equipment and troops along these roads. In our areas, people bring food in on foot, while the enemy builds roads at such speed and quality that even passenger vehicles can swiftly navigate through these mountain paths. Thinking of their soldiers, they are digging trenches—armored, in enormous volumes; they are working like ants. Even recently, when they hit our tractor and Kamaz, it was under our control... they struck and set up their make-shift shelters right on that hill and took seat. There was no counterattack because again, firing was prohibited.'"
