Criminal Proceedings Initiated Against Tigran Urikhanyan: Details

The newspaper "Past" reports that, according to its sources, criminal proceedings have been initiated against former MP and leader of the "Alliance" party, Tigran Urikhanyan. The case, which is being handled by the Anti-Corruption Committee, pertains to the failure to declare particularly large income in 2019.

According to our information, Urikhanyan has been summoned for questioning but has refused to attend and has left Armenia. It is likely that he will be placed on the wanted list. It remains to be seen what sources of particularly large income Urikhanyan, who was not engaged in any business activities during his time in parliament, has had.

Furthermore, it has been recently reported by several media outlets that there has been significant commotion regarding Urikhanyan's current entrepreneurial activities, leading to a number of court cases being initiated. This suggests that the noose is tightening around Tigran Urikhanyan with an aim to completely neutralize him.

Recall that last month, Urikhanyan had been vocally critical of the authorities, especially Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as the previous administrations, accusing them of "jointly destroying the country." He announced that on October 20 at 20:00, there would be an "extraordinary" event.

As that date approaches, yesterday, "Past" contacted Tigran Urikhanyan, but he avoided answering our questions, stating only that he would make a statement live on his YouTube channel and official Facebook page on the specified date and time, after which, according to him, "it will be hot." He also refused to answer any questions related to the criminal proceedings.

Additionally, from our sources in the Armenian police, we have learned that the police recently notified Urikhanyan in writing regarding a violation of the Republic of Armenia's weapons law. It is still unknown whether criminal proceedings have been initiated in this regard.
