Biden Administration to Continue Supporting Ukraine 'As Much as Necessary': White House

The United States, under President Joe Biden, will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine for as long as necessary. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, according to Kommersant.

She commented on the words of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who earlier expressed intentions among Republican members to reduce support for Ukraine if they win the midterm elections.

“We will continue to work with Congress in this direction, as we have done over the past seven months, and we will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary. This is the promise that the president (Joe Biden) made to the president of Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelensky),” Jean-Pierre said during today’s press briefing, the recording of which is available on the White House website.

She emphasized that she does not intend to assess the prospects for bipartisan support for future initiatives to provide assistance to Ukraine.

Yesterday, on October 18, former U.S. President Barack Obama noted that the American side should continue to provide financial and military assistance to Ukraine as its ally. Obama added that Washington should also define the limits of its military support for Ukraine, as the conflict could escalate into a confrontation between Russia, the U.S., and NATO.
