Mirzoyan - Babayan Conflict Seems to Have Recently Settled
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that there has been a prolonged lack of communication between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Artsakh, Ararat Mirzoyan and David Babayan. They have not met since September of last year. The website of the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs even does not have any news about their phone conversations.
According to the website, their last meeting was on September 7, 2021. There are reports suggesting that the reason for the breakdown in inter-agency communication stems from personal relations; David Babayan has become a persona non grata for Mirzoyan due to his pronounced pro-Russian views.
However, the conflict seems to have recently smoothed over, as Artsakh’s Foreign Minister David Babayan has enthusiastically confessed during meetings with Artsakh’s political circles that President Araik Harutyunyan assumed a mediator's role during their visit to Yerevan last week. Henceforth, the foreign ministers will communicate normally.
It should be noted that last week, the delegation from Artsakh, led by the President of Artsakh, visited Yerevan, which included David Babayan. They held meetings with various high-ranking officials, including Ararat Mirzoyan.
