Malhas Amoian's Message After Winning the World Champion Title
Greco-Roman wrestler Malhas Amoian, competing in the 77 kg weight category, has dedicated his victory at the U23 World Championship to the Armenian and Yezidi nations. "We have gone through a difficult path and still have more to traverse. I thank you all. This victory is dedicated to the Armenian and Yezidi people. This win belongs to all of us," Amoian wrote on Facebook.
In the finals of the U23 Wrestling Championship in Spain, Malhas Amoian faced Moldovan wrestler Alexander Gutu and secured a confident victory with a score of 7:2, claiming the champion title. Amoian began his journey in the qualifying round, where he won against Iranian representative Mohamad Mokhtari (1:1). In the 1/8 finals, he triumphed over his Mexican opponent with a score of 3:0, followed by a 2:1 victory against Kyrgyz wrestler Akilbek Talantbekov in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he secured a commanding win against the Japanese representative with a score of 9:5.
