Changes to Migration Policy Expected in Russia

The Russian authorities are preparing to make changes to legislation that will tighten migration control. This was announced by Nikolai Patrushev, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

According to TASS, Patrushev stated after a Security Council meeting that law enforcement agencies and special services have been instructed to identify members of international terrorist and extremist organizations who exploit migration routes to carry out terrorist acts and other crimes.

He also emphasized that significant attention was given during the meeting to the socio-cultural adaptation of foreign nationals, along with the education of their children in Russian public education programs.
