Video: Contract soldier committed state treason for $370

The officers of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the National Security Service of Armenia, continuing their efforts to combat crimes, have uncovered another case of state treason as a result of comprehensive operational intelligence activities.

It turned out that a citizen of Armenia, a contract serviceman from military unit N, a private grenadier named V.H., in the course of his service, encountered information constituting state and official secrets. In November 2021, through the social network 'Odnoklassniki', he became acquainted with a person acting under a pseudonym, who is an employee of a foreign special service. Under the guidance of this individual, from November 2021 to May 2022, he collected and handed over via the WhatsApp application on his mobile phone, information containing state and official secrets regarding the location of his military unit, combat positions, the procedure for conducting service in them, and military vehicles accounted for in the unit. In return, he received $370 through three bank transfers from foreign special services, thereby committing state treason against the territorial integrity and external security of the Republic of Armenia.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated by the investigative department of the NSS, the aforementioned contract serviceman has been charged, and the court has ruled to apply custody as a preventive measure against him. The investigation is ongoing.
