Russia Has Not Threatened and Does Not Threaten Ukraine with Nuclear Weapons, Says Russian Foreign Ministry
Russia has not threatened and does not threaten Ukraine with nuclear weapons, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported today, October 18, according to Kp.ru.
Earlier, Russia's ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, stated that Russia does not intend to use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. He noted that the Russian side has strict conditions for the use of such weapons.
The Foreign Ministry also previously announced that Russia does not plan to use nuclear weapons during the special operation in Ukraine. The department emphasized that Moscow will continue to adhere to the principle that there can be no winners in such a war.
It is worth recalling that Russia began its military operation in Ukraine on the morning of February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin stated that its goal is to "protect citizens who have been subjected to violence and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years." Currently, Russia is ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine, with the freeze of the negotiation process initiated by Kyiv, as previously announced by Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation and assistant to the President of Russia.
