Authorities Rush Again: Details on 25-Day Military Gatherings

The newspaper «Hraparak» reports: During the government meeting last week, the Minister of Defense discussed abandoning quarterly gatherings and replacing them with 25-day gatherings: “The gatherings will last 25 days, with 21 days being the actual service, while the remaining 4 days are for organizational purposes. Citizens will spend 7 days in training and 14 days in active combat readiness. The order will be announced soon.” Following Papikyan's announcement, there was a stir among the people who started inquiring about who would be conscripted, when, and how.

However, it turned out that this is merely an idea that needs to be developed into a project, adopted, and then come into effect. The Ministry of Defense’s press secretary informed us that the project is not yet in circulation, has not been developed, and has not been approved. They will publish it when it is ready. At this point, it is uncertain when it will be ready. Currently, there are two-month gatherings that will last until November 22. The government will make a separate decision regarding other training gatherings.

It appears that this government has rushed again; without making a decision, and without even developing a project, they announced something, causing a commotion and panic, while they did not adequately explain to the people that this is still just an idea and that no practical steps in this direction have been taken yet.
