Video: Large-scale land exercises have begun at the border with Azerbaijan
Iran is conducting three days of large-scale military exercises in the country's northwest under the code name "Mighty Iran." According to TASS, this was announced by the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Ground Forces, General Mohammad Pakpour.
"These exercises send a message of intention to strengthen peace, friendship, and security for neighboring countries, and a confirmation of the determination to defend Iran’s borders for adversaries," stated the general.
The deputy commander of the IRGC Ground Forces, Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, noted that "Azerbaijan and Armenia are not threats to the Islamic Republic, but certain developments occurring there are dangerous." He expressed confidence that if the armed forces of the region cooperate closely, sufficient grounds for diplomacy and regional security can be created. He also deemed external interference in regional issues unacceptable.
