Iran is Not a Country of 'Velvet' or 'Colorful' Revolutions: Iranian Foreign Ministry

The Islamic Republic of Iran is not only not a country of 'velvet' or 'colorful' revolutions, but it is also a bastion of stability and security in the region. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian to the head of the EU's diplomatic service, according to Mehr news agency.

Referring to the ongoing protests in Iran in recent weeks that began after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, Amir Abdollahian stated that peaceful demands are a separate issue from chaos, murder, arson, and terrorist acts.

“The most brutal response to unrest in Europe may be considered a good and acceptable act, but the same act in Iran can be regarded as repression within the legal framework,” he noted.

“What has the West done regarding hundreds of deliberate killings of women and children in Canada and the U.S., especially by the police? Iran is not only not a country of velvet or colorful revolutions but also a bastion of stability and security in the region,” the senior Iranian diplomat told Borrell.

In response, Borrell stated, “We do not intend to interfere in Iran's internal affairs.”
