We Will Not Tolerate Anarchy Near Our Borders: Iranian Supreme Leader's Advisor
Tehrān will not tolerate any anarchy near its borders that may arise due to the presence of other countries, stated Ali Akbar Velayati, the advisor on international affairs to Iran’s supreme leader. His remarks were quoted by the Miran Press agency.
“Any minor incident in the region could lead to the presence and interference of other countries, and we certainly will not tolerate such anarchy at our borders,” emphasized Velayati.
The official added that Iran is ready to mediate between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He noted that during his time as foreign minister, he made significant efforts to take on a mediatory role and even achieved certain successes.
“However, sometimes certain countries, which profit from the conflict between the two neighbors, interfere and create problems,” he remarked.
Ali Akbar Velayati also stated that any violation of borders between neighboring countries exacerbates the situation in the region and could lead to local wars, the first “result” of which is that countries like the USA and Israel resort to vigorous and harsh interventions under the pretense of establishing a ceasefire.
