Death Toll Reaches 40 in Turkey Mine Explosion

At least 40 people have died as a result of an explosion at a mine in the Bartin province in northern Turkey, announced Suleyman Soylu, Turkey's Minister of Interior.

"The death toll has reached 40, and those injured are currently receiving medical assistance," the interior minister told reporters.

A Haber TV channel, citing local authorities, reported that 115 workers were present at the explosion site, located 300 meters deep, and some of them were evacuated.

“49 workers are trapped in the mine due to the explosion,” said Governor Nurtac Arslan.
