Biden Responds to Attendee's Sign During Speech
Protests in Iran will continue for a long time. This was stated by U.S. President Joe Biden, adding that the U.S. administration is against the use of violence against those participating in the demonstrations.
During a speech in California, President Biden drew attention to a sign held by one of the attendees, which read “Freedom for Iran.” He remarked, “We really support the citizens of Iran and the brave women.”
As the U.S. President emphasized, both women and men should have the freedom of speech and the opportunity to organize gatherings. He noted that women worldwide are subjected to various forms of persecution, and no one should tell them what to wear.
Biden called on Iranian authorities to stop the violence against their citizens, who are merely exercising their fundamental rights. He expressed his astonishment at the wave of protests that followed the death of Mahsa Amini, who was detained for allegedly wearing her headscarf improperly.
“Because of that, something has awoken that I believe will not settle down for a long time,” Biden stated.
