Portugal to Provide Ukraine with Russian-Made Helicopters
The Portuguese government has decided to send six firefighting helicopters to Ukraine, which were developed by the Kamov design bureau, reports TASS. The announcement was made by Portugal's Minister of Defense, Helena Carreiras.
“At Ukraine’s request and in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Portugal, we will provide Ukraine with our fleet of Kamov helicopters, which, due to the current scenario and sanctions imposed against Russia, we can no longer operate. In fact, they do not have certificates of airworthiness, and we cannot even repair them anymore,” the minister’s statements were quoted by Diario de Noticias.
As the minister added, “six helicopters need repairs, one of which is not operable.” At the same time, she assured that the Ukrainian side is aware of the condition of the machines.
