Azerbaijani Armed Forces Occupy Armenian Territory, Says Co-Rapporteurs of PACE
The co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Armenia have issued a statement urging Azerbaijan to immediately withdraw its forces from occupied territories in Armenia and to release all prisoners of war. This was announced by Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and Head of the Armenian Delegation to PACE, on his Facebook page.
The statement expressed concern over reports of war crimes committed by Azerbaijani armed forces.
“While both sides accuse each other of resuming military operations, the Azerbaijani armed forces are occupying Armenian territory, violating Armenia's territorial sovereignty and, according to the Council of Europe’s charter, Azerbaijan's obligations to resolve conflicts peacefully,” the statement noted.
