The Truck That Exploded on the Crimean Bridge Did Not Cross Our Border: Statement from Georgia

The truck used in the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge did not cross Georgia's customs border. This was stated by Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze during a conversation with reporters on October 12.

“There are certain accusations being made that have no basis. No cargo with explosives, no truck or wagon with any explosives crossed the customs border. If anyone claims that they crossed the state border, an investigation will be initiated, and those responsible will be held accountable. Nevertheless, I think it should not be justified that someone has said this. I know that the truck did not cross the customs border,” the official stated.

Earlier, the Armenian National Revenue Committee also addressed the incident. It is worth noting that the explosion of the truck on the Crimean Bridge occurred on October 8. The Russian Federation classified it as terrorism and accused Ukrainian special services of involvement in the explosion. The Federal Security Service of Russia reports that among those arrested in connection with the Crimean Bridge explosion is a citizen of Armenia. The statement from the FSB mentions that in total, citizens from Russia (5), Ukraine (3), and Armenia (3) have been arrested as part of the criminal case. It was noted that the explosive device used to blow up the bridge was also transported through the territory of Armenia, among other countries.
