Kyiv on Arrests Following Explosion at Crimea Bridge
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has declined to comment on the Russian FSB's claims regarding the organizer of the terrorist act at the Crimea Bridge. The FSB stated that the organizer was the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, led by Kyrylo Budanov, along with its personnel and agents. The explosive device was disguised within polyethylene-wrapped rolls of more than 22 tons in weight, including 22 straw mattresses, which were sent from the port of Odesa to Bulgaria in early August.
Five Russian citizens, three Ukrainians, and one Armenian citizen have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, mentioned that “we will not comment on their subsequent statements,” according to Public News Telegram channel.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported that a truck exploded on the Crimea Bridge on the morning of October 8, which caused a fire in seven fuel tanks of a train. There was partial collapse of two openings of the bridge, while the arch above the navigable part was not damaged.
According to preliminary data from the Investigative Committee of Russia, three people were killed in the explosion. Later, a representative of the emergency situations service told RIA Novosti that, according to updated information, four people died due to the terrorist act on the Crimea Bridge.
