Moscow May Consider Putin-Biden Meeting Opportunity: Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave an interview to a state TV channel, asserting that the United States has long been involved in the war in Ukraine, reports BBC.
“I believe that the Americans have de facto been participating in this war for a long time,” Lavrov said.
Commenting on the possibility of Turkey mediating between Russia and the West, Lavrov stated that Moscow would be willing to listen to any proposals, and that Turkish President Erdoğan and President Putin could discuss this at a meeting later this week in Kazakhstan.
Lavrov also mentioned that those who constantly speculate about the possibility of nuclear provocations by Moscow should be aware of their responsibility for what they say, and that Putin “has repeatedly stated that in our nuclear doctrine, the Russian Federation considers this exclusively as a measure of last resort.”
He also indicated that he does not rule out a Biden-Putin meeting at the G20 summit, stating that the Russian side will consider such a proposal if it arises.
BBC reports that there are circulating rumors that both Putin and Zelensky will attend the G20 summit to be held in Bali on November 15-16, although this has not been confirmed by either the Russian or Ukrainian governments.
