Iran Reaffirms Its Stance: 'Iran is Against It'
The delegation of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship between Armenia and Iran, led by Gevorg Papoyan, met with Ibrahim Azizi, the Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament.
According to the Mehr news agency, Azizi emphasized the deep ties between the two countries and peoples, stating that these connections lay the groundwork for further strengthening of relations.
Speaking about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Azizi remarked that military clashes in the region are also a concern for Iran. “We call on both sides to exercise restraint. The use of force is not a means of resolving disputes; the region needs dialogue. Regional issues should be resolved by the countries of the region, and the region should not be opened up to foreign powers under the pretext of resolving these issues. The Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament has clearly stated that it is against changes to geopolitical and international borders in the region and supports the territorial integrity of the countries,” Azizi declared.
The Iranian official added that the warm and friendly bilateral partnership will continue.
