Two Ways to Communicate with the Enemy: Aram Sargsyan
Aram Sargsyan, the president of the Republic Party, remarked:
“There are two ways to communicate with the enemy: either on the battlefield or through diplomacy. In the current situation we find ourselves in, negotiations are the only way to secure a ceasefire for a certain period, which we desperately need like air and water. Unfortunately, unlike previous Armenian leaders, Aliyev understands this and does not want to give us time, trying instead to take maximum advantage of the situation. Aliyev can be restrained by Erdogan and Biden; the Russians also have some influence, but they are inclined not to impose restraint.
Secondly, unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan prioritizes pan-Turkic interests over Russian interests. Therefore, I consider direct communication with Turkey to be very important; while I do not expect significant and serious outcomes, it is entirely possible to de-escalate the situation, even if only for a short time.”
