Turkey Deploys Drones in Northern Cyprus: Erdogan
On October 7, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles in the occupied "Northern Cyprus". Anadolu reports that Erdogan stated, "Turkey has deployed drones in Northern Cyprus, including combat drones. I do not rule out new weapons supplies to the island. It is our right. We must ensure the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is fully secured from all sides."
According to him, the deployment of drones was Turkey's first step in response to the U.S. decision to lift the embargo on arms supplies to the Republic of Cyprus. In addition, Erdogan has allowed the establishment of a new military base in Northern Cyprus. At the same time, the president reminded that Turkey's Air Force aircraft are capable of reaching Cyprus swiftly.
