Kyiv Creates Threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction: Lavrov
Ukraine is creating risks related to the use of weapons of mass destruction, as evidenced by Vladimir Zelensky's statement about NATO's "preventive strike" against Russia. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Recently, Zelensky, speaking via video link at Australia's Lowy Institute, stated that NATO should carry out preventive strikes against Russia, rather than "wait for Russian nuclear strikes."
Shortly thereafter, Zelensky's press secretary Sergey Nikiforov clarified that he was not calling for the use of nuclear weapons against Russia, but rather discussing preventive sanctions.
"Undoubtedly, we cannot ignore the debates that have recently erupted regarding the potential use of nuclear weapons, and especially in this regard, we cannot remain silent about the reckless actions of the Kyiv regime that create risks for the use of various types of weapons of mass destruction," he said during the fourth session of the commission for international cooperation and support for compatriots abroad under the United Russia party.
Lavrov noted that Zelensky has, in fact, presented yet another piece of evidence regarding the threats posed by the Kyiv regime to the entire world. He added that the attempts by Zelensky's secretaries to argue that he meant something else are ridiculous, as he had stated back in January that Ukraine aims to possess nuclear weapons.
