Zakharova Comments on the Information Provided by the 'Reliable Source' in HJ
During the weekly briefing, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed an article published days ago in the daily newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak,' owned by the family of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The article, citing a reliable source, discusses Russia's intentions regarding Armenia.
According to Zakharova, if the article claims that Russia is exerting some pressure on Armenia, then for clarification on this issue, it is necessary to turn to the Armenian authorities for either confirmation or denial of this information.
"If this were an official statement, we would comment on it, but excuse me, referring to a reliable source is not within our competence. And most importantly, this concerns another country, where there are authorities that can openly and peacefully talk about this issue," Zakharova stated.
It is noteworthy that the article from HJ mentioned that Russia wants from Armenia almost what it wants from Ukraine, namely making it part of a 'Russia-Belarus' union state or a part of Russia. While in the case of Ukraine, Russia utilizes Russian and possibly Belarusian troops, in the case of Armenia, it employs Azerbaijan and to some extent, the Russian troops stationed in Armenia.
