Zahharova Deems It Inappropriate to Disclose Details of Ongoing Negotiations Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
We provide comprehensive support for the normalization of relations between the two allied countries of Russia, including work on preparing a peace treaty. This was announced today by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing.
She added that comprehensive proposals for the "peace treaty" have been conveyed to Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Our comprehensive proposals have been passed to Baku and Yerevan. The special representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Igor Khovaev, has made several visits to the region to hold consultations on this matter swiftly. Those who try to cast doubt on our role or speak of our 'inactivity' present wishes as reality, in my opinion. We are engaged in practical work,” said Zakharova, emphasizing that this work should be reinforced by concrete results.
The details of the negotiation process were not disclosed by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Given the highly sensitive nature of the peace treaty topic, we find it inappropriate to publicly disclose the details of the ongoing negotiation process. As for the positions of Baku and Yerevan, those questions should be directed to them. But I will repeat once again: we are oriented towards achieving results," Zakharova stated.
