"This is an opportunity to approach my dream". Andreasian on candidacy for the Supreme Judicial Council
Today, Karen Andreasian, speaking from the podium of the National Assembly, considered it a great honor to be nominated by the "Civil Contract" party for the position of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council. The candidate noted that if the voting results are positive, he will "gladly accept" the position.
"People are tired, they have been listening for 30 years that soon the courts will no longer be what they have been for decades. They are also tired of my words because I have been talking about this for almost 20 years. I do not say that little has been done to achieve our dream courts, but unfortunately, the current political power has repeatedly claimed that the results achieved in the judicial system are insufficient," declared Karen Andreasian.
It is noteworthy that an extraordinary session of the National Assembly has been convened at the initiative of the deputies to elect two members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The "Civil Contract" faction nominated Justice Minister Karen Andreasian (who submitted his resignation yesterday) and Deputy Justice Minister Eranuhi Tumanyants for the two vacant positions in the SJC.
The candidate mentioned that he has tried to contribute to the "well-being" of the judicial system, and his efforts in various positions have had partial success, but for the most part, they have failed. Andreasian stated that he does not wish to say unnecessary words, instead promising everyone that if he receives a vote of confidence, he will be one of the members of the SJC who will act fairly.
"And that is already enough to do more for the judicial system than in all the positions and situations I have had the chance to take. A fair court has always been my dream, and this is an opportunity, finally, to approach my dream," concluded Karen Andreasian in his speech.
It is noteworthy that Karen Andreasian graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University. He has also received education abroad. He is a member of the Armenian Bar Association. From 2011-2016, he served as the Human Rights Defender. He has also held positions in international organizations. He held the position of Minister of Justice for about a year. From January 1, 2022, to September 20, he was the chairman of the Territorial Council of the "Civil Contract" party in the Kentron administrative district.
