Moscow and Baku Manage to Make Decisions on Further Cooperation Development: Mishustin
Despite the sanctions against Russia, Moscow and Baku are managing to make operational decisions regarding the further development of cooperation. This statement was made by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ali Asadov, within the framework of the Caspian Economic Forum. His remarks are quoted by RIA Novosti.
"In the context of illegal economic sanctions imposed by unfriendly states against Russia, operational decisions are being made through governmental channels aimed at the further development of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation. These measures are already yielding results, primarily in the field of trade and economic cooperation," Mishustin said.
He noted that Russian investments in Azerbaijan amount to $4.5 billion, while Azerbaijani investments in Russia reach about $1.5 billion. From January to August 2022, mutual trade between the two countries increased by 11.5%, surpassing $2.2 billion.
"Of course, it is necessary to boost these figures by launching new promising projects and creating industrial and production chains in the fields of energy, transport, and agriculture," Mishustin emphasized.
The Caspian Economic Forum was held in Moscow on October 5-6. As a result, the heads of delegations signed a joint document. The third forum will take place in Iran in 2023.
