What is the Situation of Gas Reserves in EU Countries
“The gas storage facilities of the European Union are nearly 90% full. This has happened as a result of replacing Russian gas imports with American and Norwegian gas,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Wednesday.
She pointed out that the share of Russian gas in European imports was 41% at the beginning of this year and has now decreased to 7.5%. “We have been able to compensate for the decline in Russian supplies from our reliable partners, namely the USA and Norway,” she said.
According to von der Leyen, European countries have managed to reduce gas consumption by 10% since March. She referred to this as a positive outcome and called for the continuation of this trend.
