What is more important: Azerbaijani gas or Armenian blood? EC MP to Borrell
What is more important for the European Union: Azerbaijani gas or Armenian blood? This question was raised by French MEP Jordan Bardella during a discussion in the European Parliament on October 4, regarding Azerbaijan's recent attack on Armenia, addressing the Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell.
“My question is clear and straightforward: what is more important to you, Azerbaijani gas or Armenian blood? I think I already know the answer, as the President of the European Commission, Mrs. von der Leyen, has signed a contract to double gas supplies from Azerbaijan, without ever publicly supporting the Armenians who were attacked on their own land,” the MP noted.
Jordan Bardella pointed out that there are recent videos confirming that Azerbaijani soldiers are brutally killing Armenian soldiers.
“What are you waiting for? What are you waiting for to highlight this dirty war unleashed by Baku? Has Europe become unable to express its stance in international relations without American structures? Maybe it is out of fear to expose Turkey, which, being a NATO member, directly supports Azerbaijan's ambitions,” the French legislator stated.
He emphasized that he does not blame actions aimed at reducing Europe’s energy dependence on a single source. “We blame you for unpredictability and ideological blindness, as well as for doing all this hastily and sacrificing European friendship with the people of Armenia. Our civilization is burning, and Europe looks the other way,” said Jordan Bardella.
Borrell declined to respond to the French MEP's comments.
