Stanislav Zas Reports to Nikol Pashinyan on CSTO Proposals, Russian Ambassador Says

The Secretary General of the CSTO, Stanislav Zas, has reported to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on proposals aimed at de-escalating tensions in specific regions along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, which the CSTO’s Joint Staff is preparing to develop. This was stated by Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador in Armenia, during a briefing with journalists, as reported by Armenpress.

According to Kopirkin, within the framework of the CSTO mission, proposals regarding the de-escalation of tensions in certain areas along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border are to be formulated. When asked about the stage of the process and when results might be visible, Kopirkin replied that last week, Stanislav Zas had returned to Armenia and met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“As far as I know, he reported on the proposals that the CSTO Joint Staff intends to develop for the review of the leaders of CSTO member states. I believe that this concerns specific steps that should demonstrate the Organization's presence and role in this region,” Kopirkin noted.

On September 29, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas. A statement from the government noted that the CSTO Secretary General had provided information about the operational group's work of the CSTO monitoring mission in Armenia.
