Ukraine to Submit Odesa for Inclusion in UNESCO Cultural Heritage List

Ukraine will submit an application to include Odesa in the UNESCO cultural heritage list. This was reported by TASS, referencing Ukraine's Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko.

“We have prepared and are submitting a dossier for the accelerated procedure for the registration of Odesa in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list,” said Tkachenko, adding that Odesa's inclusion in the global cultural heritage list will draw international attention to its preservation.

It is worth noting that in August 2022, Ukraine announced its intention to ask UNESCO to include the historic center of Odesa in the list of global cultural heritage sites. UNESCO has engaged several experts for further deliberation on Odesa's candidacy at the World Heritage Committee meeting.
