The Prosecutor Accusing Robert Kocharyan Forced to Resign
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that Gevorg Baghdasaryan, a close associate of former Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan and the prosecutor in charge of Robert Kocharyan's criminal case, faces growing pressure. According to our sources, he is expected to submit his resignation soon.
The situation arose because he had created a long-standing impression in the Prosecutor General's Office of being a high-ranking prosecutor. Since taking on the role of prosecutor in Kocharyan's case, he believed he was untouchable. Furthermore, sources within the prosecutor's office indicated that he had cultivated the perception that the political authorities were backing him. However, with the appointment of Anna Vardapetyan, this dynamic has changed.
It has been made clear to Deputy Prosecutor General Gevorg Baghdasaryan that despite being a "high-caliber lawyer," he failed in the charges brought against Kocharyan in relation to the March 1 case, as the Constitutional Court deemed it unconstitutional.
