Shocking for Pashinyan to Organize the Leakage of Azerbaijani Demands through His Family Newspaper: 'Armenia' Faction
The extended meeting of the 'Armenia' faction of the National Assembly, considering the developments preceding the regular sessions of the Assembly, noted that the challenges facing the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh have intensified instead of alleviating. This is stated in a message released by the Alliance.
Azerbaijan, with Turkey's overt support, continues its anti-Armenian and genocidal policies, the latest evidence of which is the brutality against Armenian servicemen at their posts, which is deemed an international military crime. The legal-political response should involve both international and domestic legal mechanisms to hold those responsible accountable. The reality is even bleaker under the incompetent and ineffective policies of Armenia's current authorities. It is clear: Armenian statehood and the Armenian people are facing an existential threat.
The faction reaffirmed its previous assessment that under such circumstances, the current political authorities of Armenia continue to offer the public non-prioritized, often dangerous legislative and other initiatives instead of prioritizing security issues and their resolutions.
Specifically:
- It is shocking that a representative of Armenia is pleading for peace from the podium of the UN while asking Azerbaijan for maps through his family newspaper, thereby organizing the leakage of Azerbaijani demands aimed at the annihilation of Armenian statehood, as well as information leaks regarding allies, which simultaneously intimidates the public and attempts to create a sense of helplessness and chaos. This is while the number one responsible for creating this situation is him and his political group. The faction has decided to issue a separate statement regarding this issue, as well as the statement from the Security Council of the Republic of Artsakh.
- With contradictory statements regarding allies and an inability to procure weapons, as well as legislative and executive initiatives that have weakened the armed forces, the current political power of Armenia has rendered the system of military and industrial integration incapable of countering external threats, thereby intentionally or unwittingly aiding Armenia's enemies and promoting an anti-Armenian atmosphere in the external world.
- Alongside the aforementioned behavior, by publishing false pacifist theses, the current political authorities of Armenia fail to acknowledge the fact that real and dignified peace is achieved through adequate guarantees, which should currently be the matters on Armenia's real agenda.
The faction, addressing the agenda of the regular sessions of the National Assembly on October 4, notes that the political majority in the National Assembly remains indifferent to the real agenda of Armenia. By unlawfully rejecting the initiatives proposed by the parliamentary opposition, the political majority and the leadership of the Assembly delegitimize the high representative body endowed with a primary mandate through their arrogance and inadequate behavior.
Opposed to the agenda of the regular sessions that distort Armenia's real agenda, the faction finds it necessary to address three issues included in the agenda.
In particular, the agenda includes the question of extending the time frame for the activities of the commission investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war for six months. As we have noted, the current Defense and Security Committee of the National Assembly is incapable of conducting effective work on this issue since the majority consists of representatives of the same authority that should be occupied with recording the shortcomings and apparent crimes of this investigative commission. Therefore, it cannot be independent and cannot register positive results, evidenced by the commission's activities over the past six months. Moreover, there are attempts to distort the true reasons for the defeat.
Meanwhile, the 'Armenia' faction had previously proposed a bill to create a truly independent autonomous body to study all circumstances of the 44-day war, but this was rejected by the authorities. If the 'Armenia' faction's proposal were accepted, the investigation would also cover the gaps and deficiencies in the security systems of Armenia and Artsakh after the 44-day war, the elimination of which would serve as a basis for preventing new and continued Azerbaijani aggression and military actions.
The 'Armenia' faction, opposing the extension of the term of the National Assembly Defense and Security Committee as the investigative committee, will continue to pursue the implementation of its initiative.
Another issue on the National Assembly's agenda involves the government proposing to adopt the state program for the development of education in the Republic of Armenia until 2030. Emphasizing the importance of this topic as a crucial pillar for Armenia's long-term development, the faction decided to organize a broad public and professional discussion on determining existing challenges and assessing the adequacy of proposed solutions.
Regarding the bills related to labor and social protection, the faction again asserts that the issues under discussion are not relevant to the urgent problems in the sector, including the deepening poverty.
