Minister Discusses Construction of Academic City

The idea of an Academic City is good, but the timeline for its construction is still unknown. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Vahram Dumanyan, stated this while presenting the state program for the development of education in Armenia until 2030 in the National Assembly, adding that the ministry is not the developer of this city.

“We also want to have such a city. There are many such cities around the world. I cannot provide details about the specific construction at the moment because it is a global, large project. It is a very good idea. I believe we will soon have information on how the process will take place and when it will be completed, but it also depends on our partners,” said the minister.

According to him, eight universities will be created with 100% state funding, but the possibility of paid education cannot be excluded. “By 2030, at least four Armenian universities will be included in the top 500 of international rankings,” he added.
