Kremlin on Reports of Armenia Joining a Union State
The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, has labeled statements from Armenian media—that the Russian Federation is forcing Armenia to join a Union State, encouraging Baku to do so—as "nonsense." This was reported by the TASS news agency.
"No, this is yet another absurdity," Peskov stated in response to a question about whether Russia indeed has such intentions towards Armenia.
It should be noted that this report was published today by the Armtimes.am website, which is affiliated with the family of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
"The essence of the actions of the Russian Federation is to demonstrate Armenia's security vulnerability, prompting it to urgently seek to become part of the 'Russia-Belarus' Union State. Elements contributing to this reasoning include Azerbaijan's aggressiveness, the inertia of the Russian troops stationed in Armenia, the political inertia of Russia, and the failure to fulfill obligations regarding arms supplies to Armenia," the publication stated.
