NATO Will Not Allow Ukraine's Membership Until Russian Special Operation Ends, The New York Times

The North Atlantic Alliance will not permit Ukraine to join NATO until the Russian special operation concludes. This is reported by The New York Times.

Columnists Andrew Kramer and Dan Bilefsky believe that it is highly unlikely for Ukraine, which is currently involved in military operations, to be admitted to NATO any time soon. The alliance is committed to the principle of collective defense, and should Ukraine join, NATO would have to invoke Article 5 of its mutual defense charter.

Experts predict that this process could take months or even years. The publication also reminded that previously, France and Germany were opposed to Kyiv's NATO membership. President Biden shared the same stance.
