Musk Introduces Robot That Will Eventually Replace Humans in Certain Sectors

During the Tesla AI Day 2022 presentation, the company's founder Elon Musk also showcased the first working prototype of the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot, reports the Engadget portal.

According to the portal, the robot is still not very confident in its movements, but it is already capable of carrying boxes, waving its arms, and watering flowers. The hands of Optimus are designed to resemble human hands and can interact with almost any object.

According to Musk, the robot moved independently for the first time without safety supports during the presentation.

Tesla Optimus navigates through space using computer vision. It is noted that a 2.3 kWh battery at 52 volts is expected to be sufficient for a full day of work. The weight of the robot is planned to be around 73 kg. Optimus will be able to move at a speed of 8 km/h and lift loads of up to 20 kg.

Musk anticipates that in the future, the robot will be able to perform tasks that will allow it to replace humans in certain sectors. If successful, the cost of the Optimus robot is expected to be less than $20,000. However, the release date for the humanoid robot has not yet been announced.
