Photos: How Armenian Soldiers Outwitted the Enemy and Escaped Encirclement – Ministry of Defense Presents Heroic Episodes

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia presents several episodes of exceptional bravery displayed by Armenian soldiers during the Azerbaijani offensive.

On September 13, 2022, during the Azerbaijani military's assault, Senior Sergeant Taron Mher Galoyan, a conscript and the commander of combat position N, accurately directed artillery fire to halt the enemy's advance and provided fire support to neighboring positions. The personnel at the combat position regularly provided precise targeting to the mortar team of the infantry battalion to stop the enemy's advancement, resulting in the repulsion of attacking assault groups with significant losses to the enemy's manpower.

The personnel of the combat position skillfully and confidently destroyed the enemy's ammunition stockpiles, while conscript Sergeant Hovhannes Roberti Harutyunyan, using a "KORD" type machine gun, eliminated enemy personnel and completely burned the enemy's stronghold.

On September 13, 2022, during the preemptive actions of Azerbaijani armed units, the D-30 artillery battery of military unit N, commanded by Captain Arkadi Ishkhani Barskyan, occupied firing positions, engaged in combat tasks, and ensured the safe withdrawal of other units from their permanent deployment sites to combat zones while taking enemy fire upon themselves.

During military operations, the artillery battery repeatedly halted the advance of enemy assault groups and military equipment with precise fire, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

On September 13, 2022, around 12:30, the enemy encircled one of the combat positions in the defense zone of military unit N with a large force and demanded the personnel to lay down their arms and surrender. Lieutenant Gevorg Karen Harutyunyan, the responsible officer of the outpost, and conscript Private Hrayr Aprese Nerkaryan, assessing the situation and refusing to comply with the enemy's demands, outwitted the opponent with clever and skillful maneuvers and escaped from the encirclement.

On September 13, 2022, around 12:10, following a heavy shelling from tanks and artillery, the enemy launched an attack on the right and left flanks of combat position N in the defense zone. Assessing the situation, the senior conscript and commander of the combat position, Junior Sergeant Esayi Yanesi Arziyev, orchestrated evasive actions while simultaneously relaying coordinates to the higher command, resulting in our artillery effectively destroying the enemy with accurate barrages.
