Edmon Marukyan Explains Why Authorities Do Not Use the Term 'War'

Thousands of citizens are asking why the term 'war' is not being used; I will briefly clarify this matter. The term 'war' has been out of circulation in international law since the 1970s. This was stated by the Ambassador at Large and leader of the 'Bright Armenia' party, Edmon Marukyan, during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

We can call prolonged military operations a war, but in international law, there is the term 'crime of aggression,' Marukyan noted. He explained that this means the armed forces of one country are attacking the sovereign territory of another country and occupying it.

This is referred to as aggression or military action. The use of the word 'war' by senior officials and military personnel is a matter of professionalism, Marukyan added.
