State to Cover Burial Costs for Soldiers Killed on and After September 13
The state will cover the burial expenses of soldiers who were killed on September 13, 2022, and thereafter. This decision was made during today’s cabinet meeting, presented by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan.
According to the project, the compensation for burial expenses will be paid to the families of the fallen soldiers within approximately 30 days. In this case, some families of the deceased are forced to obtain the necessary funds for organizing the burial ceremony through loans from relatives or other individuals, which negatively affects their moral-psychological state.
According to the draft decision, regardless of whether a state of war has been declared, families of soldiers killed (deceased) while participating in combat operations of the Republic of Armenia or on combat duty at the line of contact with the enemy, or as a result of the enemy's preemptive actions, will be provided with compensation for burial expenses in the amount of 700,000 AMD, in advance, before the burial takes place.
On the night of September 12–13, 2022, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched a large-scale aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, utilizing heavy weaponry, artillery, missile systems, and drones. Additionally, 293 military personnel and seven civilians were injured, and 20 soldiers were captured.
