«Nobody will ask for permission, and this is definitely not a bluff»: Medvedev
Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons if deemed necessary. This was stated by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, on his Telegram channel. According to Vedomosti, Medvedev asserted, “Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons if necessary, in predetermined cases that strictly correspond to the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence.”
He clarified that such a response would follow the emergence of a threat to Russia’s existence. Medvedev also warned Western countries against deploying nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
“If the threat exceeds the danger threshold, we will be forced to respond. Nobody will ask for permission, without lengthy consultations, and this is definitely not a bluff,” emphasized the politician.
Moreover, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation believes that NATO member countries will not intervene directly in the conflict if it comes to the use of nuclear weapons. In his opinion, the West is more concerned about its own security than the fate of Ukraine, which is of no interest to anyone.
