Gathering Around Current Authorities Would Be a Mistake: Ohanyan
The opposition is not willing to engage with the current authorities on any issues. This was stated by former Armenian Minister of Defense and Head of the 'Hayastan' faction of the National Assembly Seyran Ohanyan, during a visit to the Yerablur military pantheon.
"The current authorities of Armenia are acting outside the created geopolitical situation. Their priority is not the borders or security. Their primary focus is on conducting covert negotiations with adversaries and enemies. What should we discuss with them, stand next to them and watch how he (Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan) is surrendering the country? Should we become complicit in the crime of surrendering the country?" Ohanyan noted.
According to Seyran Ohanyan, the gathering around the current authorities, as suggested by the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, would be a mistake, especially since the authorities continually reject assistance from the opposition regarding defense and foreign policy issues.
Earlier, Ter-Petrosyan mentioned in an interview with Public Television that Armenia is facing severe solutions under the current situation, stating that agreements must be signed with both Azerbaijan and Turkey, and "this will not be pleasing to anyone, but at this moment, there is no alternative."
In the former president's opinion, the former leaders of Armenia and Artsakh should initiate a dialogue with the current Prime Minister to choose the least painful option for the state.
