Blinken Calls on the World to Punish Putin

The Russian Federation is violating the very international order that the UN Security Council is meant to protect. On Thursday, September 22, CNN reported, citing U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He emphasized that the announced mobilization in Russia and the fake referendums in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are a disrespect to the United Nations.

“The world cannot allow President Vladimir Putin to escape accountability. His decision to add fuel to the fire this week, while much of the world gathers at the UN, demonstrates his total disregard for the UN, the UN General Assembly, and the Charter of this Council,” said U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. According to him, the collective West should call on Putin to stop the horrors he has launched. “Tell him to stop prioritizing his interests over those of the rest of the world, including his own people,” the politician stated.

He also reminded that wherever the Russian wave has retreated, it has left behind horrors such as Bucha, Irpin, and Izyum. Blinken also pointed to the war's impact on global food security and criticized Russian misinformation regarding the effectiveness of vaccines approved by the WHO.
