Torture, Humiliating Treatment: Ombudsman's Report

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia has published an extraordinary report regarding the consequences of the Azerbaijani military aggression against Armenia, as informed on the Ombudsman's official Facebook page.

“Grigoryan summarized and analyzed the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, documenting the targeting of displaced persons, ambulances, and journalists. He also presented evidence of rights violations against children and persons with disabilities, as well as facts related to the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, and damage to property and the environment,” the post states.

It is also noted that the report's confidential section analyzes incidents of torture, inhumane and degrading treatment of Armenian servicemen, as well as the mutilation of the bodies of deceased servicemen. These findings have been submitted to relevant international organizations and stakeholders.

Recall that on September 13 at 00:05, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began intensive shelling of Armenian positions in the directions of Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk using artillery and large-caliber firearms. The adversary also employed UAVs. On September 14, the Azerbaijani forces shelled Jermuk and Verin Shorzha again, and later fighting resumed in the Ishkhanasar section of Syunik province.

During the government meeting on September 16, Nikol Pashinyan announced that the verified number of Armenian casualties is 135. A ceasefire regime was established along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border starting from 20:00 on September 14 and has been maintained to this moment.
