‘We have regained control over 6 positions’. Andranik Kocharyan
International responses condemning Azerbaijani aggression are directly linked to the clear defensive actions carried out by the Armenian Armed Forces. Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, expressed this view while addressing an urgent meeting convened the previous day by the UN Security Council regarding Azerbaijan's military aggression against Armenia's territorial integrity.
“These responses on international platforms are directly related to the implementation of our Armed Forces’ clear defensive actions. If we had not fought as we did, such reactions would simply not exist,” said Kocharyan.
Touching on the issue of the 10 square kilometers of territory occupied by the Azerbaijani side and their strategic significance, Kocharyan stated, “Any territory where we have been present has had strategic significance. And with these actions, it is most likely evident that Azerbaijan is trying to improve its positions along the border before entering the demarcation phase. However, there have been positions that, as a result of our actions, have once again come under our control, specifically referring to 6 positions. It is quite possible that this will again be subject to change.”
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire regime now so that the Armenian side’s forces can enter into a reorganization phase, recover losses, and fully prepare their reserves.
